Remy Converse (Viola) is a professional violist and violin/ viola instructor in Orange County. She began her studies at the age of 10 and studied privately with violist, Galina Andre. By age 15 she became a member of the Tulare County Symphony and was invited to perform with numerous CODA and CMEA All-State Honor Orchestras throughout her High School career. In 2010 Remy won the first prize of the ASTA Fresno Chapter Solo Competition and 3rd prize in the ASTA State Solo Competition in Orange, California.
In her undergraduate studies, Remy continued studying Viola performance under Dr. Jerzy Kosmala at the University of California, Irvine from 2011-2015. As a member of the UCI Symphony Orchestra, Remy served as principal violist from 2011-2014. In 2013, she also became a member of the Dana Point Symphony. As an advocate of new music, Remy had the honor of performing new composer, Pablo Rubio Vargas’s world premiere piece “Kuiya Xaa” for viola and electronics at the UCI Winifred Smith Hall in April 2013. Remy also enjoys chamber music and has performed in many masterclasses taught by renowned classical musicians: Manheim Pressler, Trio Celeste and the Szymanowski Quartet. Her honors and awards include the Dean’s Honor’s List and the Marjorie Rawlins Endowed Scholar from 2011-2015. Remy recently graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Social Behavior in 2015. Remy currently enjoys being a freelance musician, teaching her private students, and performing with the OC Cavatina String Quartet.
